A.J. Letizio 2010 Business Expansion Under Way

Business Grows into Two New Marketplaces and a New Business Sector

The Letizio name has been recognized for nearly a century in the food industry in Boston. Today, the family’s original enterprise has grown well beyond the original design, territorial scope and expectations of the family in 1912. A.J. Letizio Sales & Marketing, founded by Al & Patti Letizio twenty-two years ago, had its foundation in the proud tradition of the family’s legacy and expertise in the retail meat and deli business. Fifteen years ago A.J. Letizio diversified its business through the creation of its foodservice division in New England. Through three strategic acquisitions and careful growth and planning, A.J. Letizio developed its New England operation into the only sales and marketing agency that provided depth of expertise and service in both key categories of Retail and Foodservice in New England.

“Two-thousand ten marks a major year of growth and expansion for us at A.J. Letizio,” according to Al Letizio, Jr., company president for the last 22 years. “Our plan for 2010 is a five phase strategy that grows our business into two new market places and one new business sector.” The first phase of the plan, launched in March of 2010, was the addition of the company’s new Club Store and Alternative Channel Sales Division. Bob Tessitore, A.J. Letizio’s Senior Retail VP, recruited John Volpicelli to lead the effort of the new division. Already off to a strong start, the new division plans to make major additional announcements for further expansion in the 3rd quarter of 2010. The second phase, completed in May of 2010 was the expansion of the A.J. Letizio Foodservice Division into the Upstate NY market. Paul Abdalian, A.J Letizio’s Foodservice Senior VP, announced that Tawnie Dardano would lead the New York team of 5 as its Director of Sales, with coverage from Erie Pennsylvania, east to the company’s original westerly border in Vermont. In June, phase three was underway as the A.J. Letizio Retail Division announced its expansion into the Mid-Atlantic region with the appointment of Lisa Yerger as the company’s Director of Sales in the new territory. “Lisa’s leadership and experience will play a key role in managing our enterprise in this key new market for A.J. Letizio, added Retail Senior VP Bob Tessitore.

“Phase four and five of our plans will be equally exciting and are ready to be rolled out in the 3rd and 4th quarter of 0ur 2010 fiscal year,” says Al Letizio, Jr. “It is a very exciting time in our company and the enthusiasm from our staff, customers and clients, both old and new, has been both uplifting and contagious. I am very grateful for everyone’s support and appreciation of our efforts.”
